Jewel Coloured Living Room
We already owned an eclectic collection of furniture, including various antique items and new classic pieces we had purchased over the years, but with bare oak floors and light grey walls I was never quite happy with this room. It looked slightly uncomfortable, very disjointed and despite being south facing was quite a dark room. I spent a long time wondering what I could do to bring together all the different pieces of furniture without making the situation worse. So I found a light coloured rug which picked up all the other colours in the room. Still it didn't look right and I decided the wall colour had to go. Eventually I hit on the idea that the colour that would complement everything in the room and make the colours pop out was dark green. As the room was already dull and quite dim I it was time to embrace the dark side! I am very happy with the result I've got for very little extra expenditure. I had to do it when my husband was away for the weekend - it took him a couple of weekends to get over the shock, but now he loves it too.
